 ery\, the threat of the end of the world becomes reality. This novel plays
  with many of the fears during the Cuban Missile Crisis and in general the
  threat of mutual destruction during the Cold War. Concepts of free will\,
  man versus technology\, and religious fanaticism are major themes in this
