Book lovers, it’s Book Swap time again! Mark your calendars and get ready to collect your books that are only taking up shelf space: on April 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., you can swap them for new reading material at Amerikahaus.
This is how the Amerikahaus Book Swap works:
1. Pick your books you want to swap (English books only!)
2. Exchange them at the Amerikahaus for Book Swap Coupons
3. Use these coupons to swap other books
Remember: sharing is caring – please only swap books in good condition.
Bring your books with you on the day of the Book Swap or exchange them in advance for Book Swap Coupons at the Amerikahaus reception (only from Monday, April 20, to Saturday, April 25, 2026 during regular business hours).
Book Swap goes Board Games
Need a reading break? At this Book Swap edition, you’ll have the chance to play some English-language board games! Meet up with old friends, make some new ones, and enjoy a board game or two after you’re done book swapping.
Please note: At this Book Swap, there will also be English-language board games (for ages 12 and up) accepted, if in good condition and complete. You will receive Book Swap coupons for your board games, but you will not be able to swap them for other board games. Amerikahaus will make good use of your old board games during the new Game On! Amerikahaus Board Game Night event series.
Book Swap Conditions
The Book Swap organizers want to make sure that you and the rest of the guests enjoy the Book Swap. In order to make this happen, please accept the following conditions:
1. You will get a certain number of coupons per book, mostly depending on the type of book (hardcover/paperback), its condition and its first publication year. You can use these coupons to swap for other books on the day of the Book Swap.
It was very challenging to come up with a system that is as fair as possible. Please be so kind and help by accepting the coupon allocation system. The rganizers fully understand if you think that some of your books are not being awarded enough coupons. In this case, please keep your book instead of swapping it. Bargaining would not be fair to other book swappers.
2. Unfortunately, it cannot be guaranteed that you will find books to your liking and/or for the exact amount of coupons you have received for your old books.
Please accept that you might leave with fewer books than you have dropped off – or, in the worst-case scenario, with no books at all.
