Devotion has been practiced as a tool for wellbeing for thousands of years in India, maintaining a continuity across civilizations, religions, geography, ethnicities and cultures. The objects of devotion have been breathtakingly varied, from godlike entities to natural forces, inanimate forms and the absolutely formless. Devotional relationships have covered a range of human possibilities, from spousal to filial.
India’s rich and venerable classical arts, sciences, literature and cultural traditions owe their origin, depth and variety to the creative outpourings of devotion of countless men and women since ancient times. Drawing from and continuing this tradition, Wedded to the Divine is a short collection of devotional poems dedicated to a formless love.
